Eminent Inconsistency?
With all of the trouble stirred up by the Supreme Court's Eminent Domain ruling, Congress is stepping in to do something about it. Republicans are pushing a bill to withhold funding from any government entity that annexes private property in this manner. It's nice to see that a few Democrats are finally stepping up and showing a little consistency in fighting for the little guy: Maxine Waters, John Conyers and Peter DeFazio have all signed up for it as well.
The most bizarre thing to me is that extremely high profile Dems, like Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and John Edwards aren't jumping all over this. Here's a chance to be bi-partisan; to really shine as the John McCain of the democratic party, fighting the "two Americas", working for real progress and understanding in the midst of political polarization. And they aren't taking it. Instead, they're inconsistently hiding in their hovels, waiting for who knows what. Do they not want the lime light? Are they suddenly not interested in crusading for the little man against oppression anymore?
Maybe it's because as recently as last year, Hillary was quoted as saying "We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good!" Granted, she was talking about Bush's tax cuts.
The most shockingly idiotic Dem in all of this is Nancy Pelosi, who went on record as being against Congress' decision, saying, ""When you withhold funds from enforcing a decision of the Supreme Court, you are, in fact, nullifying a decision of the Supreme Court." Amazing observation, Nancy. You didn't have so many qualms about flouting authority and playing with the rules of political engagement when you filibustered Bush's judicial nominees.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. I've been googling Clinton and Kerry and Edwards with "Eminent Domain", and I can't find a single relevant hit.
The message we're getting here is when it's a liberal's idea to fight for social justice (especially against the Supreme Court), Democrats are rank-and-file on the field, lambasting every corporation-loving Republican who gets in their way. But when the liberal judges have a fit of epilepsy and sign in favor of crushing the common man, prominent liberals don't give a rip, and leave social justice to the DeFazio's.

"I'm happy about Social Justice!"

Let's face it--the Democrats are hypocritical weasel-mongers. (That's right. They mongue weasels.)
