New Template!!

Update: Bret got the other one too, somehow, amazingly. He has all the points now, sir.

UPDATE: A hearty "Hooray Bret!" to Bret for figuring out a fix for my blog in IE. Now it looks real nice. He also figured out the battery text, more or less, so it's 1 million and 5 points to him. The bottom two lines say "I did not pass through fire and death to bandy words with a witless fool - keep your forked tongue behind your teeth" which is a misquote of gandalf from two towers.

UPDATE: Hmm. +1 million points to anyone who can tell me why I still have that white bar at the top in IE. In FireFox, it is, of course, wonderful.

Inspired by Mair and EAP, I hacked my template apart and made this new one, complete with a nice special new banner. I know it's not quite as original as theirs, but maybe I'm not looking for that, ok? I totally ripped the little battery from another blog template because I thought it looked cool, and a lot of the font, layout, icons, etc. are the same as the old hurtmachine - they were doin' their job just fine, and if it ain't broke don't fix it. If you view my source, please excuse some of the bad and redundant CSS.

Check me out. Like, totally check me out.

+2 points to anyone who can read the small print by the battery
+10 points to anyone who can read the small print in the upper-right corner

Sorry to some of the 176 web surfers who checked my blog today and saw nothing new. Most of you are bots, without basic human feelings and emotions, and to you I say: eat it.

Sweet job, there Mr. Machine! I especially like the battery - nice way to incorporate your passion for electronics. You should give a few points to anyone who'll translate the Chinese on your banner, too.

I don't have cool image-enhancing software, but if I had to guess, I'd say that all the tiny text is Latin filler. Graphic artists love the stuff. Then again, if it's a techie who generated it then it could be bad sci-fi poetry or something. Man, now I wish I had cool image-enhancing software . . . (wistful sigh)

Looks great, Red! In all fairness, all credit for my template goes to EAP.

ok, +5 points to anyone who's not ethnically japanese or chinese who can translate the kanji.

The tiny text isn't latin. I can read it off of the page, but I'm wondering if that's just because I know what it's supposed to say....

Even when I wrote it, zoomed in 400% in photoshop, 4pt font doesn't look extremely readable, so I don't know how well software would help you. You don't have photoshop? I'm sure K could get a copy for you....or maybe I could at homecoming - let me know.

IE puts everything into 800x600, so if you go outside those boundaries with your template it wraps, and that could cause the white bar. I had the same problem when I tried to add a new column to my blog. Make the width a little less and see if that helps.

Then again, Firefox is amazing and people who don't use it should probably be punished, so maybe you should just leave it the way it is.

Why would wrapping do that? It seems more like something to do with IE's default style sheet....
