Adventure Rabbi

For anyone who thought the Christians were the only people abusing their religious heritage, I read this ad in a local newspaper:

Hike, Bike, Yoga Pray. Rosh Hashahan Our Way!
Join Rabbi Jamie Korngold (a.k.a 'The Adventure Rabbi') for an adventurous Rosh Hashanah retreat outside Winter Park, Colorado. Return to your Ancient roots - like the Israelites who wandered the desert and received the Torah at Mt. Sinai. Families, Couples, Singles, Young & Old.

Nice! Nothing remembers tradition like a little yuppy-ism. In case you're not from around here, there's nothing remotely similar to trekking through the desert about driving your SUV to Winter Park for a nice morning hike in the trees. Celebrating Rosh Hashanah like this does a lot more to destory your "ancient roots" than return to them. You can read more about this amazing guy here.

Forget the Marines - an "Adventure Imam" could end our problems in Iraq much quicker.

Nice... Do you think he has some pyrotechnic pillar of fire?

Really. But it does sound somewhat interesting...but I certainly wouldn't consider it going back to your roots. Maybe if he led them around until they were all starving...
