It doesn't help to ask

Have you ever applied for a visa? A worker's visa - as in, the permit required by the United States government to work in the United States. I haven't, but my company is helping do the paperwork to get one of our international employees out here, and we're finding the process rather, well, humorously frustrating.

Here's a few of the questions you have to answer, and I'm totally serious about this - these are really on the application:

• Have you ever been a member of the Communist or other totalitarian party?
• Have you engaged, or do you inted to engage in sabotage, kidnapping, or any other form of terrorist activity?
• Have you ever participated in the persecution or killing of anyone because or ace, religion, nationality, ethnic origin, or political opinion?
• Have you ever engaged in any unlawful commercialized vice, including, but not limited to, illegal gambling?
• Have you ever left the United States to avoid being drafted into the U.S. Armed Forces?
• Do you plan to engage in any activity to control or overthrow the government of the United States?
• Do you plan to practice polygamy in the United States?

Honestly...who's going to say yes? They might as well just have a box that says, "are you an idiot?"
